Which regions can I stamp?

Region maps cover 9 countries: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, India, Indonesia, Russia, South Africa and the United States. Each has its own map and list, labeled by what it holds: states, provinces or regions. Open a country sheet and tap Regions to see how many you have stamped, such as 12 of 50.

Contested administrative units are left out of the lists and drawn in neutral shading, in line with the rest of the map. For a country that has no region data yet, the screen says regions are coming and points you to cities.

How do cities work?

Cities appear as dots on the country map. The sheet shows the largest cities first, with a search box, and a Your cities list that counts what you have pinned. The city set has over 33,000 places from GeoNames, licensed CC BY 4.0, and it is credited in About.

If a town is missing, add a custom place: type a name and tap the map to drop a pin. It is tagged as a custom place so it never mixes with the bundled data.

What is visit history?

A free stamp keeps one first-visit year. With Pro, each country keeps every visit with dates, shown as a timeline. The arrival card then reads Visit No. followed by the count for that country. Repeat trips stop being a single year.

The Me tab and the yearly recap use these dates for furthest from home and busiest month.

Free keeps unlimited countries, the World Card, arrival cards, Overlap and Crew links, backup and counting rules, with no time limit.

How do I stamp a region?

Regions work from a country you have already stamped.

  1. Open the country sheet from the Map tab or the album.
  2. Tap Regions.
  3. Switch between Map and List, or search by name.
  4. Tap a region to mark it. The header shows your progress, for example 12 of 50.
  5. Tap Share region map to send a card of your progress.

Who gets value from Pro?

Pro suits people whose travel has depth rather than breadth. Someone from a large country, such as the United States or Brazil, often has more to tell at state level than at country level. Repeat visitors get a timeline instead of a single year, and people who like a yearly recap get all six slides.

If you want a country count, a World Card and friend comparisons, the free plan covers it with no time limit.

Extra card styles, and a saved friends list with no limit instead of the latest 3. The free plan already includes dark mode and backup. See the stamp album for cards and backup and restore for data.

What is in Year in Travel?

Free shows your year so far as a map, your new stamps and a summary card. Pro opens the full six-slide story: your year, new stamps, first and last, furthest from home, busiest month, where your year went, and the rarest stamp of the year. Each slide is a 9:16 image card you can save together.

The app suggests the recap in December if notifications are on. No video is made, only images.

How is Pro sold?

As a weekly or yearly auto-renewing subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase. The yearly plan can show a 7-day free trial for eligible accounts, and a reminder before it ends is optional. Prices and the renewal terms appear on the purchase screen in your local currency. The purchase is handled by Apple, with a third-party billing service validating it.

Restore purchases sits on the Pro screen and in Settings. Subscriptions are managed in iPhone Settings, under your Apple ID.

What are the limits?

Regions exist for nine countries. For any other country the screen says regions are coming and offers cities instead. The city set is large but not complete, which is why custom places exist.

Contested administrative units are left out and shown in neutral shading, so a region list can be shorter than a map in an encyclopedia. The layers button on the Map tab switches the Regions and Cities layers on and off, so a busy map is one tap away from a clean one.
